News of a new class action against a “healthy” and “low calorie” protein nut butter spread… has spread. The class action alleges that G Butter is actually the equivalent of junk food. The plaintiff’s attorney’s submitted simple charts in their complaint for all of us non-lawyers to understand!
With a little bit of research (reading the complaint courtesy of classaction.org here), we found that the Florida-based consumer law firm behind this law suit is Souferis & Shvartsman. Their website, havejustice.com does not mention the law suit. We tried reaching out to Mikhail Shvartsman and media@havejustice.com but there has been no comment so far. Not just to us either, I couldn’t find a single comment from anyone in Souferis & Shvartsman on any of the youtube videos or articles talking about this class action.
SO, here’s what G Butter claims is on their label:
Here’s what the lawsuit claims is actually in each bottle they tested:
If what they say is true about this nut butter spread, GButter must be nuts. Pun intended. The tests done by the independent lab seem to show that there is no rhyme or reason to the labeling by G Butter.
Today healthy foods are trending. Whole foods lists butter and spreads as the 6th highest trend. I’m very curious to find out if this is real or not! I’m sure the competitors, the resellers, and all the customers of this company are wondering the same thing. There hasn’t been much news or updates about this lawsuit. Hopefully we get a reply from the attorney’s soon of the question we all want to know: To Junk Food or Not to Junk Food?
